Why Education Matters to SuccessEducation is the best investment in your future. Nothing will change your standard of living faster than gaining knowledge. All education will make you wealthier, in the broadest sense of the term. However, this does not mean that education will automatically translate into more money. Your education needs to be targeted to the issues that are preventing you from reaching your goals. So where do you start? First, do you have goals? Learning to set goals and taking the steps to attain those goals is the first and most important education to have. The current educational systems seldom have this as part of their curriculum, choosing to concentrate on filling students with content instead of life skills. How ironic. The most important skill is not taught. A Harvard study found that people who set goals and wrote them down had a significantly higher net worth than the ones who did not. So the first thing to learn is to set goals and write them down. There are many books and training available on how to do this. They often include training on organization and time management as well. Learn this and all the rest of your education will be easier to attain and will more likely translate into the wealth you desire. (Wealth does not mean just money. It also means skills, relationships and appreciation.) Next you can learn specialized skills that will move you towards your goals. If this is to make more money, do work you love or gain personal strength, emotional, physical or intellectual, you will now be able to identify what you want and how to get there. Second, do you have the desire and commitment to change your life. This is a critical part of the process. It is easy to gain knowledge. It is more difficult to follow through to making the personal changes required to act on that knowledge. You need to be healthy, rested, strong and motivated to take this step. Third, gain specialized knowledge. Specialized knowledge is where the value of your education can increase your personal value that makes you wealthier. When you combine the skills of self management with motivation and specialized knowledge, you are bound to realize more income from your increased value. It is a winning combination. Massage, Polarity, Aesthetics, CosmetologyThe specialized knowledge you learn about massage therapy, polarity therapy, aesthetics and cosmetology are valuable skills that cannot be outsourced to other countries. Learning to be an outstanding professional in the massage, polarity, aesthetics and cosmetology industries can be extremely lucrative. Practitioners with excellent skills can either work in high end spas, clinics, salons or day spas or go into business for themselves. By far the most exciting and valuable situation is to be in business for yourself. The tax advantages of having your own business as well as the flexibility and control are wonderful. Whether you have a private practice or build and manage a large practice with employees, you will find the returns will be far greater than working for someone else. However, having your own massage, polarity, aesthetics or cosmetology business will push you to expand your knowledge to include marketing skills, accounting skills and other related business skills that are needed to run a successful business. It can be fun as well as challenging if you enjoy a diversified work experience. It can also be stressful if you do not have the education you need to be successful. This is why where you choose to go to school is critical. Choosing the right massage, aesthetics, polarity, cosmetology schoolIt is critical that you pick a career school that will give you the education that you need to be successful. There are far too many schools that are mediocre and are more focused on getting students enrolled and financed than they are on making the students successful. It is an unfortunate truth of the industry that education can be very profitable if they focus on admissions and cut corners on education. In the long term it will hurt the school but the history of career education is that there are too many schools that do not focus on the student's success. The key factors to look at are how long the school has been offering the program you are interested in, who the teachers are and how long they have been teachers, and what the reputation of the school is in the market they serve. The last one is the most important since it will influence the hiring decisions of the people who are destined to be your first employers when you graduate. It is a good idea to visit salons, spas, day spas, massage clinics and professional massage therapists, polarity therapists, aestheticians and cosmetologist or hair stylists to find out who is providing the best education. The community is small and word gets around. If a school is turning out graduates that are unprepared, word gets around pretty quickly. If a school is graduating superior massage therapist, polarity practitioners, aestheticians and cosmetologist or beauticians, you will find out from salon and spa owners. They often have places where they prefer to hire their employees from and that is where you will want to go to school. Another very important aspect is the content of the training. By getting a massage or polarity session, facial, body treatment, haircut, hair coloring or other services, you will be able to see the quality of the work, talk to the students about their experience at the school and get an inside view of how professionally the school is run. When you visit the clinic you will want to see if the energy is high, are people happy, are they professional and do they have good skills. You will also want to evaluate the quality of the facility and the people that work in the office. All of these factors are your indication of the professionalism of the school and your chances for being taught the skills you need to succeed. We wish you luck on your journey for knowledge and skills and look forward to helping you in any way we can.
There are a lot of schools of massage, aesthetics and cosmetology to choose from. |
